An Anniversary Gift

In honor of the 175th anniversary of the Case IH Agriculture and CASE Construction Equipment brands, CNH Industrial America LLC has awarded Fargo Public Schools a $25,000 grant to implement Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) projects for students in grades 3 through 12. A check presentation was held at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School on September 18. CNH (Case New Holland) Industrial is the parent company of Case IH, manufacturer of Steiger Tractors and other agricultural equipment, in addition to the CASE Construction Equipment brand.

Garg also gave a short slide presentation about the history of CNH Industrial and the technological and engineering strides the manufacturer has witnessed and implemented within the agricultural and construction equipment industry over 175 years.

The day’s event also included an opportunity for more than 80 seventh grade science students and eighth grade Project Lead the Way technology classroom students to pose questions about STEM careers to seven Case IH engineers from the Fargo-based manufacturing plant. In addition, the students were able to view a large Case IH tractor and a CASE Construction front loader, which were parked in front of the school for the day.

Project-based learning includes real-world problem solving learning opportunities, “You’re Hired” classroom challenges, and the use of Compass student assessment tools for evaluating acquisition of 21st Century Skills (The 4 C’s: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical Thinking). PBL provides an opportunity for students to experience real-life application of content and skills in their classes and interact with business people about STEM careers at CNH Industrial and throughout our community.  This funding will allow FPS to support innovative ideas and programs aligned to our STEAM Strategic Plan Initiatives.
