Eagles Elementary School Principal Tanya Wrigley-Lingle has been named the Fargo Public Schools 2017 Administrator of the Year. Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Schatz made the surprise announcement and award presentation at the conclusion of a music concert in the Eagles Elementary School gymnasium on Tuesday, May 9 to all students, staff, and several invited guests.
The Eagles Elementary students and staff prepared a tribute video to honor their principal, which was shown to all assembled guest immediately after the award announcement on May 9.
Wrigley-Lingle is a 1988 graduate of Fargo South High School and graduate of University of North Dakota. She began her teaching career in 1993 at Longfellow Elementary School as a second grade teacher. In her 24 years with the Fargo Public School District, Wrigley-Lingle has also taught third and fifth grades at Centennial and Bennett Elementary Schools, and sixth grade at Discovery Middle School. She completed an administrative internship at Ben Franklin Middle School. In addition, Wrigley-Lingle has also served as a middle level team leader and as building co-chair for North Central Accreditation at two schools, along with various other school-level and District committees. In 2008, she was appointed as the assistant principal at Clara Barton-Hawthorne Elementary School. In 2010, Wrigley-Lingle was named principal at Clara Barton-Hawthorne and in 2014 she was named principal at McKinley Elementary. In April 2015, Wrigley-Lingle was named principal of Eagles Elementary, an infill elementary school for the Fargo School District. Wrigley-Lingle guided the building process, move-in phases, and first year of operation at the new school.
Tanya Wrigley-Lingle’s selection for Administrator of the Year was based on many comments from Fargo Public Schools staff and parents that all emphasize Wrigley-Lingle as a compassionate leader with top notch communication skills. She sets high expectations for all in her building, and then works tirelessly to provide a safe learning environment for both students and staff to experience success in achieving their goals. She models respect for all with her positive attitude.
Wrigley-Lingle is described as a dedicated leader, one who encourages and empowers others, shows a genuine concern for individuals, and maintains a positive attitude regardless of the current situation. Comments on Wrigley-Lingle’s leadership style included phrases such as: “She is determined and passionate.” “She encourages collaboration.” “Her door is always open to feedback.” Wrigley-Lingle was repeatedly praised for creating a warm, friendly, and positive school culture that “fosters a growth mindset in both staff and students.” One staff member shared, “Through my time working with Tanya, I have never been inspired to work harder. I have found my confidence and feel rejuvenated.”
Wrigley-Lingle is visible on a day-to-day basis throughout the school building, interacting with the students and staff to build rapport. Staff members shared that Tanya is a “compassionate leader,” who has “created an environment for staff to thrive in, and students to succeed” and “inspires all to do their best.”
Tanya Wrigley-Lingle, Fargo Public Schools 2017 Administrator of the Year, makes a real and positive difference in the lives of the students, families, and staff at Eagles Elementary School and the Fargo Public School District.
This award has been presented within the District since 2014. The honor is an award regularly bestowed as part of the District’s annual Staff Recognition Program. The District also annually recognizes a “Support Staff of the Year” and a “Teacher of the Year” as part of this program. Ben Franklin Middle School Assistant Principal Shane Martin received the 2016 Administrator of the Year Award.
