Fargo Schools Announces 2 Admin Positions And 1 Portfolio Assignment

The Fargo Public Schools announces the assignment of two administration positions and a portfolio assignment within the District.


Vincent Williams has been named to the position of principal of Discovery Middle School. Williams will begin his duties on July 1.

Williams is an alumnus of Minnesota State University-Moorhead (MSUM), and graduated high school from Detroit, Michigan. He played football for the MSUM Dragons all four years while attending college. Most recently, Williams was the District’s English Learner’s coordinator and assistant principal for Woodrow Wilson High. He served as the administrative intern for Kennedy and then Lincoln Elementary Schools for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, and was a social studies teacher at North High from 2004 through 2014. In addition, he served as the assistant football coach at North for two seasons, and the seventh and eighth grade head football coach for Ben Franklin Middle School for seven years. Williams has also served as a wrestling, boys basketball, and boys track coach within the Fargo Public Schools (FPS). Williams has been a new teacher mentor for the District, has participated on the FPS Calendar Committee and Summer School Task Force, and has been involved with technology initiatives within the District. Williams began his employment with Fargo Public Schools in 2003 as a homebound tutor, substitute teacher, and paraprofessional.

Williams is an adjunct professor in the Education department at MSUM, and received the MSUM Distinguished Alumni Award in 2015.

Williams holds a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from MSUM, along with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Social Studies with a Minor in Economics from MSUM. He holds his Administration Credentials from North Dakota State University.

Williams takes over for Discovery Middle School Principal Dr. Linda Davis, who will retire at the end of June.

James Keal has been named to the position of assistant principal of Woodrow Wilson High School. Keal will begin his duties on July 1.

Keal is an alumnus of NDSU. Keal has been a counselor at Fargo South High School since 2004. He has also served as the assistant principal of Fargo Public Schools Summer School program for the past four years. In addition, he has served as the co-chair for the South High School Improvement Committee, a member of the District Accreditation Committee and Multi-Tiered Support System Committee, and served on various District task forces. Keal has also participated in the Fargo Public Schools New Teacher Mentoring Program.

Keal served as the site administrator for the North Dakota Motorcycle Safety Program from 2005 to 2014. He received the NDSU Distinguished Education Professional Award in 2016.

Keal holds a Master of Education degree from NDSU, along with a Master of Science in School Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in Teaching Middle Level Sciences. He holds North Dakota teaching, school counseling, and secondary administration credentials.

Keal takes over for Woodrow Assistant Principal Vincent Williams, who will become the principal at Discovery Middle School on July 1.

David Burkman has been assigned the District English Learners (EL) Program portfolio.

Burkman is the principal for Woodrow Wilson High School and oversees all operations at the Agassiz facility, which houses Woodrow Wilson High. Burkman will begin these additional EL program duties on July 1.

Burkman takes over the District’s English Learners portfolio from Vincent Williams, who will become the principal at Discovery Middle School on July 1.
