Fargo Public Schools Kindergarten Registration is THIS WEEK

It’s time to get new kindergarteners attending Fargo Public Schools registered for the start of the 2014-15 school year, which begins August 27.

Do you remember circle time, “fat” crayons, washable markers, desk assignments, buying a backpack, coat hooks all in a row, and learning to count to 100? It’s almost time for another group of students to experience those same childhood — specifically Kindergarten — memories.

All families who anticipate sending a child to Kindergarten within the Fargo Public School District for the 2014-15 school year are encouraged to register their child during the Kindergarten Registration Event, February 24 – 28, Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily. The child must be age five by July 31, 2014. Early registration will assist the District in planning adequate staffing and classroom materials for the school year.

Parents/guardians are asked to register at the Fargo Public Elementary School where their child will attend. Not all Fargo addresses fall within the Fargo School District boundaries; some residential areas are assigned to the West Fargo School District. If a parent/guardian does not know which school their child will attend, call 701.446.1043 or check online at www.fargo.k12.nd.us/boundarymaps.

When registering their child, parents/guardians are asked to bring:

  • The child’s certified birth certificate
  • The child’s current immunization record
  • Document (i.e. City of Fargo utility bill, lease agreement, etc.) that includes parent/guardian name and address to verify the correct neighborhood school.

The child does not need to be present at the time of registration.

More information regarding FPS Kindergarten Registration may be found online at www.fargo.k12.nd.us/registrationforms.
