ND Securities Department to honor sixth grader

Ben Franklin Middle School student Jessica McKee has proven herself a saavy future investor…the sixth grader took part in a math curriculum event called “The Stock Market Game,” sponsored by the North Dakota Securities Department.

In the game, teams of three were challenged to invest artificial $100,000 allotments into the stock market. The game included a writing contest, “Invest Write,” in which Jessica took the statewide 1st place award. Her essay is now entered in the national contest. Essays were to predict what would happen to a selected stock’s share price, given an “event” selected by the writer – political, economic, environmental, etc. Writers supported their opinions with historical evidence and research.

Jessica will be presented with her award by representatives of the Securities Department on April 4.
