North students cleaning up, one bar at a time

North High School’s Environmental Club has been busy this year “cleaning up” at local hotels. Students visit Fargo Holiday Inn, Fargo Inn & Suites, and Homewood Suites hotels to collect boxes of used bars of soap from housecleaning crews for shipment to the Global Soap Project, which remakes the bars and ships them to underserved countries around the world. The latest shipment of 8,000 lbs. included 3,200 lbs. from North’s club. Most recently, GSP sent more than 100,000 bars to Sierra Leone to help contain an outbreak of cholera. Above, are club members Davis Redmond and Scarlett Nelson unloading a collection on March 8.
