BFMS administrator named North Dakota’s APOTY

Ben Franklin Middle School Assistant Principal Shane Martin has been chosen by his peers in the North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals (NDASSP) as the organization’s Assistant Principal of the Year for 2013.

Martin, who has been in his present role since 1995, was cited for his leadership in the implementation of middle school concepts; in the development of curriculum, instruction and assessment; his work with the Fargo Grading Task Force; and in personalizing the middle school experience for students by building meaningful relationships with them.

In addition to his position at BFMS, Martin also serves has the District’s Home School Coordinator, and as the secretary for the Legacy Children’s Foundation, which assists challenged teens in their quest for a high school diploma.

Now designated a state winner by NDASSP, Martin is eligible for consideration for the 2013 NASSP/Virco National Assistant Principal of the Year Award, which will be announced at the NASSP National Conference in Washington, DC on March 2, 2013.
