The Fargo Public Schools announces today that Travis Christensen has been named to the position of assistant principal and activities coordinator at North High School to begin the 2012-13 school year.
Since coming to the District in 2008, Christensen has been a social studies teacher and assistant football coach at North High. (He also coached girls basketball for two years as an assistant.) Christensen will replace outgoing Assistant Principal and Activities Coordinator Troy Cody, who will become the principal of Davies High School on July 1.
Christensen is an alumnus of Concordia College. He began his education career in 2005 as a social studies teacher with the Ulen-Hitterdal Public Schools, where he also was the head football coach and an assistant basketball coach. He taught social studies and coached football at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton for a year before coming to the Fargo Schools.
In addition to his regular teaching and coaching duties at North High School, Christensen served as the summer school site administrator at North High during the 2010 and 2011 summers. He has also served as co-chair of North High’s School Improvement Planning Team and as a member of its Site-Based Leadership Team. Christensen is also a member of ASCD and the National Council for the Social Studies.
Christensen holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Tri-College University through Minnesota State University-Moorhead.
