“Click It or Ticket” PSA kicks off at South High

On Tuesday, the North Dakota Highway Patrol kicked off its statewide “Click It or Ticket” awareness campaign in the South High School parking lot, the beginning of 11 high school events across North Dakota. The event caught students on their way into the school’s south side before classes began, and continued with a news conference with members of the local media.

NDHP Officer Scott King (above) led the South High presentation, which also featured 2008 South graduate Parker Shook (below, right), who played the part of an accident victim to further illustrate the reality of automobile accidents. The public service campaign  also featured interviews with emergency room personnel and a pathologist at Essentia Health.

According to a February report in The Forum, Southeast Region NDHP troopers issued 176 citations and 108 warnings during a recent “Click It or Ticket” seatbelt enforcement blitz at that time.

This week’s high school events precede a statewide seatbelt enforcement blitz that runs from May 21 to June 3.
