Fargo Public Schools and the Fargo-West Fargo Indian Education Program are proud to welcome international lecturer, educator, performer and world champion fancy dancer Larry Yazzie to Carl Ben Eielson Middle School on Tuesday evening, March 20.
Raised on the Meskwaki Indian Settlement in Central Iowa, Larry began dancing at the age of 7. Throughout his childhood, Larry was instructed on the traditions for the Meskwaki people, including the flamboyant and energetic fancy dance and the Northern Plains style of singing. His presentation will include storytelling, traditional flute and dance.
The event is from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, please call the Indian Education office at 446-3641.
