South choir to receive Governor’s Award tonight

Tonight, the 65 juniors and seniors who make up the South High School Concert Choir will be honored as official ambassadors of the state of North Dakota. The group of was selected on December 16 by Gov. Jack Dalrymple as the Governor’s Official State Chorus for 2012 through an application process which evaluated achievement, talent and community involvement.

Gov. Jack and First Lady Betsy Dalrymple will attend tonight’s concert (7:30 p.m. in the South High Auditorium) and present the plaque to the Concert Choir and Choral Director Sara Lichtblau during its performance as the final group in tonight’s four-ensemble vocal music presentation. (Also performing tonight are the Women’s Choir, Chamber Choir, and Belle Orso Voci.)

As the Governor’s Official State Chorus, the Concert Choir is invited to perform at special events across the state during the remainder of the year.
