Fargo high school students enjoyed a night out on New Year’s Eve at the inaugural Snow Bash event, held at Dike West and the downtown YMCA. Several community organizations and businesses stepped up to provide a fun, no-cost opportunity for students to bring in the new year with friends while enjoying indoor and outdoor activities, door prizes and pizza. Despite warnings of deteriorating weather, the night turned out well with mild temperatures, s’mores around two bonfires, and a very fast sledding hill!
Schools invited to participate included North, South, Davies, Woodrow Wilson, Shanley and Oak Grove. Although student turnout was lighter than expected, everyone enjoyed the evening and went home with a door prize, including an X-Box 360, iPad 2, Kindle Fire, Nikon digital camera, iPod Touch and Shuffle, and several gift cards. Thanks to our supporters, donors and tireless volunteers, the blueprint is in place for Fargo Snow Bash 2012… bigger and better!
We would like to recognize two very special volunteers who shared their vision and passion for Snow Bash – Phyllis Poss, Fargo South PTSA, and Susan McCullough, Fargo Davies PTSA. Without them, Snow Bash would have still been “just an idea.”
To our sponsors, THANK YOU for seeing the value of this event and supporting our
students – Fargo Park District, Fargo Public Schools, Fargo Police Department, YMCA of Cass Clay and Fargo PTSA’s/PTO’s and Booster Clubs.
Last, but certainly not least, to our Snow Bash donors – your incredible generosity “is so Fargo of you!” A very special thank you to the Davies High Booster Club, Lodge #1 of the Fraternal Order of Police, North High Booster Club, South High PTSA, Brian Hayer (Warner and Co. Insurance), Davies High PTSA, North High PTSA, Poss Custom Cabinets, Shanley High PTO, Cable One, State Bank of Fargo, West Acres, WDAY 970 AM, Y-94 FM, KFGO 790 AM, Trollwood Performing Arts School, Rusty and Neva Papachek, Sanford Health, Doolittles Woodfire Grill, Grand Junction, Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream, Hornbacher’s, D&S Beverages, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Sports Bubble, Mike Stirling (State Farm Insurance), and Buffalo Wild Wings.
