Call For Volunteers

Calling Edward Scissorhands!

The District needs your help in order to reach a goal by the middle of this month.  Reading intervention activity materials – paper cut-outs prepared to be used with students – need to be completed by Thursday, Nov. 10, for shipment to elementary buildings.  The materials will be used by children with at-risk literacy scores, in 1-to-1 and small-group sessions, or as take-home exercises to complete with parents.

Over 80 boxes of these materials will be shipped to libraries in District elementary schools.  They contain 3,000 activity packets for each FPS building.  Estimates are that this project will require 1,800 volunteer hours to complete.  The activity is taking place in the Frontier meeting room, in the (southeast corner of the) Fargo Holiday Inn, from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. each weekday through Thursday, Nov. 10.  If you have an hour or two, half a day, or day free, please consider coming to assist. (Just show up.  And bring your favorite pair of scissors if you like.) Food and beverages will be provided.  For more information, contact Curriculum Director Rachael Agre, 446-1069.

Over 80 boxes of reading intervention materials for students have to be processed (cut and sorted into envelopes) by Thursday.
