Spotlight On Our Craft

Images of the week from our school district…

North and South volleyball teams compete in a sea of pink Tuesday night at South High, during the two teams’ 4th annual “Dig Pink” regular season match and fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research.  The player-led effort, which included t-shirt sales, silent auction and ticket raffle, raked in nearly $4,000 for the Side Out Foundation.

Two teachers from separate FPS schools were honored Tuesday during surprise visits to their schools by OfficeMax. Andrea Deschamp (above), 1st grade teacher at Lewis and Clark, and Wendy O’Meara (below), 4th grade teacher at Roosevelt, are 2011 recipients of the “Day Made Better Program” from two local OfficeMax stores.

Deschamp and O’Meara received digital cameras, office chairs and supplies, and several boxes of classroom supplies for staff and/or students.

And last, but not least…

Students in the theatre program at Davies High School held their first-ever fundraiser on September 22 to raise funds and build community awareness of their new fine arts program.  The event, a “Cabaret Night and Silent Auction,” highlighted the talents of theatre students with individual and group musical numbers.  The effort raised $1,800.
