“D.W’ brings illustrative experience to Madison students

Students create illustrations of PBS and book-series character, "Arthur," during a visit by Kim Brown Monday at Madison.

Fans of the award-winning PBS cartoon series, “Arthur,” were treated to an introspective look into the series and its characters Monday evening at Madison Elementary.

Students and their parents enjoyed a pizza supper before the event.

Kim Brown, the sister of Arthur creator and book author Marc Brown, and the inspiration for the irrepressible and assertive series character “D.W.,” spoke to a crowd of over 100 about her brother’s stories and experience.

Brown gave the students and their parents a quick lesson in sketching Arthur before turning the audience loose to draw their own versions of the beloved character.

Students created Arthur drawings and illustrations in preparation for Brown's visit.
