How many years are there in a U.S. Senator’s term of office?  How many Amendments are there in the U.S. Constitution?

Nine 5th graders from Bennett Elementary put these and other civics questions to West Acres Mall patrons Thursday during the Liberty Day Kids project. Dressed in patriotic colors, they handed out pocket-sized copies of the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution to assist those patrons in finding the answers.

While at the Mall, the students joined AM 1100 The Flag radio host Chris Berg for interviews on their project.  Those aired earlier this morning.

The annual project by Bennett 5th graders is a collaborative effort between their class and the Lake Agassiz Exchange Club. It is designed to broaden people’s awareness of the country’s founding documents.
