Fargo teachers shower Sanford NICU

Sanford NICU staff open the outfits that will be hung from preemie bassinets.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Fargo Public Schools chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa presented doctors, nurses and staff of the Sanford Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with over 100 pieces of newborn clothing for premature babies.

The annual “baby shower” event is held by the chapter in honor of preemie babies born and hospitalized at Sanford, and to thank the medical professionals for their work with preemies. NICU staff and parents of preemies were treated to cake and refreshments in the Hospital’s north atrium, and given clothing gifts to open during the event.

The preemie outfits are being stored in the NICU and placed on the baby bassinets to encourage the babies to grow and wear regular baby clothing instead of the traditional hospital gowns.

Throughout the year ADK members are involved with altruistic projects that provide support to children and their families. Past projects have included the YWCA, Make-A-Wish, CHARISM, Children’s Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, and many activities to support children attending Fargo Public Schools.
